Juana Maria (28) and Andy (8 months) Juana Maria lives with her husband Domingo and three children in a slum near Guatemala City's 33-acre municipal dump. Domingo is a 'guajero' (rubbish collector), making about Q800 (£65) a month selling what he scavenges. Juana earns about Q1000 (£80) a month selling tortillas which she makes with the help of her mother-in-law and two elder children, Cindy (11) and Joana (7). The dump supports some 5,000 people, who live by collecting plastic, aluminium, fabric, even food.
